RACHEL CHINOURIRI GOOD ENOUGH

We recently introduced you to promising newcomer Rachel Chinouriri with underdog anthem ‘Mama’s Boy’, and this week we’re back with another sizzling track ‘Good Enough’ from the London-via-Zimbabwe artist. As with all of her music, ‘Good Enough’ sits on jazzy grooves and a vibrant, alternative production. Not only do the sizeable rhythms pull you in with each inevitable head bop, but it’s also Chinouriri’s relatable exploration of self-esteem that bends our ears a little closer. As she explains, ‘Good Enough’ is about “extreme cases of feeling unworthy and the consequences of jumping to conclusions/overthinking,” and here she goes into more detail, “I wrote the song from two different perspectives. I wrote the first verse about someone jumping to conclusions too early on in the relationship and confronting the other person about it while making up things in their head. The second verse is the response to everything and how the realisation that the person they’re with may be a bit obsessive." We love the swirly, soulful feel of this track and it further validates Rachel Chinouriri’s sudden ascent in new music circles. Go get an earful of her debut Mama’s Boy EP out now via Marathon Artists. - Hannah Thacker
